I have been working with Robb Beams for several years now. It has been a wonderful experience for me! I live about 2 hours away from Robb so I cannot always see him but I get a program for my next week emailed to me every weekend so I am ready to go for the next week! Then during the week I am in constant contact with Robb with any questions or help. If I am not available or I am not clear on anything Robb will also work with my parents to make sure I am following the right path! When things dont seem to be working for me I meet with Robb and he has redesigned my program to fit MY needs! If I have been injured or I am not feeling my best I know I can call Robb and he will help get me through it. His knowledge of athletes and training is wonderful and everyday I trust that I am getting the best possible workout I can! I have recommended my fellow athletes to Robb in the past and I will continue to do so, I feel that part of my success is due to having Robb on my team.

Since working with Robb Beams many things have become known to me but these three the most; the importance of sleep, hydratation, and food intake. It is recommened that you get 8 hours of sleep and i monitor that closely now, but i have goin to a race on sunday with only having 5-6 hours of sleep saturday night and it has been proven i dont ride like a can and should. This has happened twice now and it further more shows that at least 8 hours of sleep is needed for the body. Hydratation and food; your body needs both to run. If i dont stay hyrdatated, it shows up in the form of a headache for me. If i can keep hyrdatated, it avoids this problem entirely. Then food, your body has to have it and without it i struggle with long motos, halfway through a training session i start to run out of energy, get light headed and dizzy and cant see right. If i take a break, consume some food i can guarentee i'll go back and feel strong and great.

"Robb has gone from teaching me the basics in swimming free style to competing for the National Age Group competition. Within the years of Robb coaching me, I have won my age group a few times, raced as an elite, and actually won the Female Masters. My running program has allowed me to run consistently faster without injury and at the age of 46, I am thrilled with this. Most important, Robb has taught me to balance my training with my family life. With a husband who travels a lot and 3 kids, this was my biggest challenge. When I have a schedule conflict, Robb has helped me and taught me to adjust my schedule accordingly."

"Thanks so much for this eBook that you mailed back in April. I have been rowing those workouts for 2 months now and have realized gains that I have been looking for. I’ve lost about 15 lbs and inches in places that are noticeable. I don’t have time to put into riding right now for multiple reasons but that is ok for me now. All my training right now is to prepare for next years state mix series that starts in late February and qualifying and running my first LL’s (lifetime goal). I however feel I’m to the point to drill down past the general diet and rowing and get to a more specific nutrition plan and also now incorporate a specific to me workout schedule. Thus far I have just been rowing and that’s it. I will be able to start riding on a regular basis in October so I want my fitness to be all it can be by then. So I’m asking where I go from here. What can I read? What service do you have that I could purchase/use? How much? Etc…
Thanks, Russ Nicely

Coach Robb has put together a cycling specific program tailored just for me. The program is great, it requires diligence but is designed for the working professional who doesn’t mind setting aside some specific time for training. I have been training for a bicycle ride called Six Gap in Georgia and am very pleased with my performance increase as a result of Coach Robb's training program. I have recommended this program to my son and my wife has also become a part of Coach Robb's running program. If I had the ability, I would sign up for the most complete program that Coach Robb has.

Running
"As a newcomer to running and to the Orlando area, I decided to come out to one of Robb's early morning runs in late July last year. As soon as I arrived at the meeting place, I wanted to turn around in the car and wondered if anyone would notice...thinking "what have I gotten myself in to?" Here I was, a novice at running meeting with a "running coach" to run hill repeats in the dead heat of summer at 5:30 in the morning. I did make it out of the car that morning and was met by one of the most inviting groups of people that I have ever encountered, with Coach Robb leading the charge. I slowly "ran" those hill repeats that morning, but more importantly, I became a part of a group of people that later became friends and running partners throughout my year while in Orlando. As a beginner runner, Robb taught me so much about running, including nutrition, stretching and what a heart rate monitor is, among many other things. I have since moved to West Virginia, but dearly miss all of the fun of getting to know Robb and the running family. In one year in Orlando, I became a different person because of Robb and the running group. I became a runner, a morning person, a swimmer, more efficient in my days at work (after getting my exercise in early), and more confident in my athletic abilities. I hope that more people in the Orlando area discover the benefits of exercise, as I did while working with Robb and the group. It is life changing."

"I had been running half-marathons for about four years before I began traning with AEM. I had trained with another local group and while my times improved, I reached a plateau as a result of injuries. I wasn't receiving the kind of coaching help I needed with my earlier training group. With Robb's coaching, he helped correct my running mechanics almost immediately, which has both improved my times and the injury problems I was experiencing earlier - so much so that I now want to try a full marathon."

"Robb has the ability to teach and coach individuals of differing interests, goals and abilities. His philosophy is straight forward and combines physical fitness with strength, flexibility, diet, sleep, and numerous other factors which lead to an improvement in overall health and well-being. However, Robb takes it one step at a time and each athlete can tackle as much or as little as he/she desires without being overwhelmed. When my wife coaxed me into joining his group I was skeptical, but within a month I was healthier, fitter and faster and had a renewed interest in running and racing. Weather you've never run a mile, or want to break the 3 hour mark for the marathon, Robb's your man."

Thanks for the opportunity to work with you. I’ve really enjoyed the program. The goals and details you give us to focus on during our runs make even the long runs interesting. By following the program, I have benchmarks to beat and better focus when I’m not actively training (eat, sleep, rest). The ability to get your feedback and specific input concerning all aspects of training has been a big help! Keep up the good work!

The program is phenomenal. I am training for my 4th marathon and am certain that I will achieve my goals and remain injury free. Robb is a wealth of knowledge and I am ecstatic that I was able to find such an awesome coach/program!

"Since adopting Robb's philosophy of sometimes having to go slow to go fast approach, I have been able to drop my run times considerably over all distances from 5K to Half Marathon. I am running faster now than I every have in my racing career.
(i.e. of my roughly 30 miles I do per week around 12 miles are done at at 10 + minute pace)
After the help of Robb, with Great Races, in term of cleaning up my diet I was amazed at how much more quickly I recovered and how much more energy I had. I was also happy to note that I was able to eat more food and still lose weight. I am currently in the best shape of my life and setting PR's at every event I enter."

"As a result of Robb's athletic and nutritional guidance - I've run 2 half marathons and am preparing for St. Anthony's Olympic Distance triathlon. This would not have been possible without such great knowledge and coaching."

"I get my workouts pre-planned and with a purpose and focus. No longer do I paste together workouts from the most recent magazine article. Now there is periodization, base building, peaking for key races, with focus on strength training and, as important, recovering when appropriate. AND, I never miss a workout because I’m no longer injured."

“Thanks to Robb and his coaching, I am now running faster and stronger than I ever dreamed possible. The daily discipline and camaraderie of the group, together with Robb’s individual attention really do work.”

Triathlon
"I had always been an aggressive, but not-too-disciplined athlete before I started working with Robb. I tended to over train (like most of us) and tended to be injured. Since Robb and I started working together several months ago, I have been more focused in my workouts. Not so many "junk mile" runs or, as he likes to say "long slow swims that teach you to swim slowly." He's even managed to convince me to take a rest day every week. That alone is quite a feat. I would highly recommend Robb as a triathlon coach. His expertise and knowledge of multi-sport training and heart rate training are making me a better athlete."- Wendy, AZ

"Robb Beam's coaching has already made a tremendous difference in my performance. Although we have only worked together since August, his schedule and advice helped me make steady progress throughout the season. We were able to bolster my weaknesses and capitalize on my strengths. For instance, in my weakest event, swimming, my placement went form the bottom half to the top third of my age group.
Having a schedule tailored to my particular needs has taken a lot of the guesswork and confusion out of my training. Prior to working with Robb, I had a tendency to over train and to race haphazardly. Each workout now has a purpose within the framework of an overall plan. He has been there to put on the brakes when needed and as a result, all of my little injuries are gone!
Technically, he has taught me a tremendous amount about each of the three disciplines. Even though I come from a running and biking background, I have learned a great deal about these two disciplines within the context of maximum performance during a triathlon.
I look forward to working with Robb during the next few months to prepare for an even better season next year!"

"When I decided to do my first iron man distance triathlon I thought that I needed some help, especially with training discipline. A friend recommended Robb Beams and AEM. After talking to Robb about my goals and capabilities he devised a 16 week training program for me. Each week I received a detailed workout schedule and periodically we would meet to talk about progress. Robb also helped me considerably with nutrition both for training and racing.
My goal was to finish the Great Floridian iron distance triathlon and I DID. I felt confident in my training. At no time during the race did I doubt that I would finish and at no time did I feel I was going to "hit the wall". At the finish I actually felt very good. I believe my results are largely attributable to the training program Robb and AEM designed for me. I would recommend them to anyone. I am continuing to use them for 2003."

"I am in my late fifties and decided that I wanted to learn how to swim for the first time in my life. I hired swim instructors that had every credential from infant swim instructor to an Olympic medalist - all to no avail. I then consulted with AEM and shared my dream to learn how to swim and eventually complete my first triathlon. I began working with AEM in April 2002 and was able to swim by the beginning of May. Things had progressed to the point that I was able to swim nonstop in a lake for up to 30 minutes. Once I had reached this point, I decided to complete my first triathlon in September - and I finished feeling strong. With the assistance of Robb, I was able to develop the strength and endurance to make this dream a reality. I am looking forward to many years with Robb and AEM."

"I’ve been working with Robb for three years and am completely satisfied with his workout philosophy and the results.
No longer do I have to attempt to construct my own workouts. In doing so, there is a tendency to focus on the most favored discipline and ignore the least favorite. No longer! Now, focus is on the weak link, and with that comes improvement!
Additionally, I get my workouts pre-planned and with a purpose and focus. No longer do I paste together workouts from the most recent magazine article. Now there is periodization, base building, peaking for key races, with focus on strength training and, as important, recovering when appropriate. AND, I never miss a workout because I’m no longer injured.
Thanks, Robb!"
